Steps to do before building a PC.

DIV1D3

Hi, I'm building my PC tomorrow and I just would like some suggestions on what to do before or even during the building process. I have heard that you should touch a large metal object to dissipate any static charge so to not short-circuit the mobo but is there anything majorly important that I should know. Also, I'm not a nooby, incompetent person that doesn't know how to put the RAM or CPU in properly, I'm just looking for some advice about what I should do before building it.

Cheers!

get naked

helps prevent static.

I was afraid for my first build and did it with nothing but boxers, a coat hanger in the ground outlet of the wall, and some speaker wire taped around my leg and the hanger.

Error: 410

Buy parts. Get parts. Take parts out. Build computer. Turn computer on. Fap gloriously over brand-new computer.

Ok, thanks. I'll definitely remember that.

Not right away, I'll take my time to get used to it first :).

By ground, you mean, what?

Flush the radiator first if you are watercooling.

Read my sig.

Binary code, what does it mean?! And yet we no neither? Binary decoder ftw.

Ground yourself by burying yourself in your backyard before the build.

Joke, just hold the metal part of your case while your building.

Again, how do I "ground myself"? My case is full metal, and this would be to prevent static build-up, am I right?

update BIOS before installing anything

So I'm supposed to update my BIOS before I install my mobo?

get a anti static wrist band and attach to a pc case or a power supply that was on for a moment then turned off or you can hold onto a pc case for a few seconds

well you can just update you BIOS after you've done putting everything in place... but not advisable.

I wasn't planning to.

Well, idk, do only need the mobo to connect to the internet and update the BIOS?

It's either two or eight, your pick.

Why not two and eight? ten.

Yeah, what this guy said. ^ Don't bury yourself underground.

Or stick a piece of metal in the wallsocket and strap it to yourself...Don't do that. Seriously this is some of the worst advice ever.

Why do you always die right after I fix you?
