It should be enough but you might want to look into getting a new PSU from a reputable brand with an 80+ rating just to be sure. I don't trust janky no name PSUs especially if I'm overclocking. A 550w 80+ Bronze unit would be fine and you can sometimes score those for around $40 depending on what sales are going on.

This no name PSU has been running smoothly all 5 years, I'll look forward on upgrading it , but a little bit later.

That sounds like a fire hazard you should replace ASAP

What does the inside of the PSU look like and how heavy is it? I'm expecting hot glue in a lot of places...

I recommend you replace it sooner rather than later especially if it's 5 years old. Don't want to buy a bunch of new parts and have a janky psu fry them all. I've been in computer repair for several years now and I can't even count how many times I've had to tell somone their computer was fried because they got a crap psu.

It is not as bad as you think it is, if it was so terrible it would've been destroyed years ago ?

You've probably just never put it under heavy load which is what will cause issues, like it can probably do 300W at least.

I wouldn't trust it with your new CPU in any event, replace it with the upgrade to something branded and modern at least.

I think its pretty close to what I have, could be even the same PSU. Take a look at this https://aio.lv/en/computer-components-monitors-peripherals-software/psu/logic-600-power-supply-unit-600-w-atx-stainless-steel:23830

Probably just replace it with the new parts, especially considering it's an old power supply anyways

Anything from XFX, EVGA BQ, Corsair (2017) CX , or Coolermaster Masterwatt PSUs should be fine

You're going to have to upgrade it, theres no 80+ rating whatsoever and it doesn't even have an 8 pin CPU connector. I wouldn't risk using that PSU. No way. You can get a Corsair CX550M 80+ bronze for around $50 or I think EVGA does international shipping, and you can sometimes score some pretty decent deals on their website.

How would I know if any of these new PSU's would fit in my case which is also kinda a no name (Logic concept B25)?

Also is there a big difference between 5 2600 and 5 2600x? I could buy a 2600 which only costs 167 euros and comes with a cooler. However the 2600x costs around 200euros + I'd need to buy a cooler because it comes without one

2600x should come with cooler. As a matter of fact, better cooler than 2600's cooler.

But difference is small,  2600x is better if you don't want to manually overclock

Ex-EX build: Liquidfy C+... R.I.P.

Ex-build:

Meshify C – sold

Ryzen 5 1600x @4.0 GHz/1.4V – sold

Gigabyte X370 Aorus Gaming K7 – sold

Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8 GB @3200 Mhz – sold

Alpenfoehn Brocken 3 Black Edition – it's somewhere

Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse – ded

Intel SSD 660p 1TB – sold

Oh yes, you're right the 2600x comes with a cooler, there's an option to pick a non factory one if you don't like stock cooler

You could also go with say a 4770/4790(k) used and not have to worry about getting a new motherboard, cpu and ram.

NO he can't because those things are rediculously overpriced.

Paying 200€ for such an old CPU makes no sense when you can get similar or better CPU for a bit over 100€

So a Board WITH CPU that is about as good as the one you recommend cost about as much as a 5/6 Year old, used CPU that might or might not die next week.

Hello, I'm looking for a new CPU to pair with GTX 1060 6GB. Currently I have i5-4430 and its bottlenecking this GPU.

Can you survive another ~5-6 Weeks??

Then something big is released, wich at least might drop the prices of older stuff or throw everything around.

I'm thinking about i5-9400F or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, (if you think there are better choices let me know).

What I'd do right now is to get the cheapest 6 Core Ryzen and look at sales of Ryzen CPUs on every decent shop.

Right now I'd either get a 1600x or 2600 because they are much chepaer. Like 40€ less than the 2600X.

And then save money and get the Ryzen 3000 if convenient.

14 hours ago, exon654 said:

Also to make any of these CPU's work I'd need a new motherboard too because the one I currently have has this old LGA1150 socket and only supports DDR3 RAM which means that I'll need new DDR4 ram too.

Again, look for AM4 Sales.

The minimum requirement is heatsinked VRM.

ASROCK B450 PRO4 is not too bad of a choice for example.

MSI B450-A PRO might also be a decent choice.

Get whatever is cheaper...

With Ryzen 3000 on older Boards, you need an older Ryzen 1k or 2k series Chip anyway to flash the BIOS.

What I'm asking you is to help me choose a new CPU/Motherboard/RAM which together would not exceed 350 as I currently can't spend more than that.

That is even enough to get a new PSU as well.

CPU: ~150€

Board: ~100€

Memory: ~70€ (whatever 16GiB DDR4-2800, 3000 or 3200 is cheapest).

That's enough to get a decent quality lower end PSU as well, wich is probably also 6 years old, is it not?

The PSU is shit, you have to replace it!
If you don't it _WILL_ Cause Problems like random reboots, freezes and shutdowns.

That also can or rather will kill your stuff!!

So don't save on the PSU!

With the AMD System, you have enough to get a decent, modern PSU with the Rest as well.

Recommendations:
Bitfenix Formula, 450W or be quiet Pure Power 10, 400W.

That is more than enough for you and both are around 50-65€.

The Board I mentioned are at around 80€ right now. THe 1600x is around 130€. That is only 210€.

The 2600 is a bit better though...

A decent set of memory is around 70€ for 16GiB DDR4-3000.

That is 270€.

That leaves 70€ for a PSU.

No need to get it later.

Get it NOW, before you run into issues and have a shitty, not really working system that is unstable.
At least get Intel if you don't want to replace the PSU. Because that way you can't blame AMD for your instability.

PS: THe 1600X does NOT come with a Cooler..

The 2600 does however, so get that instead. Its a bit more but not by much.

Thank you guys for helping me out. From reading all of your suggestions, I think I'll wait for those new Ryzen CPU's to come out and see what happens. For now I'll either wont upgrade anything or get an used 4790/4790K although I'm not sure if I want to buy something used as I don't trust it will work properly.

By the way if you're still around here, what about this cheap EVGA PSU, is it worth changing? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/r2TPxr/evga-br-600w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-100-br-0600-k1

Its a little bit cheaper in my country than for example CX550M

No, EVGA is not that great, they only sell because of their Brand Recognition, not because of the quality of their products.

Most of the lower end stuff is just not worth considering.

The mentioned CX550(m) is far better.
