-Moved to New Builds and Planning-

You'd get better performance for your dollar if you built one yourself instead of buying a prebuilt.

Sometimes people just dont have the spare time, knowledge to build themselves, or just don't want to deal with the problems that can arise, for example my next computer will be built by the company i'm buying from just because I dont really want to build it myself

What area of the planet do you live in and does the $650 include shipping cost or are you looking at local buissness that you can pick up from (Will need to know the places in your area that you could pick up from)

Why don't you build a computer for them? You'll save a significant amount of money

?? as in paying for someone to build it? it is a bit expensive to do that especially when the budget is $650

The company i will probably use has this

$699 for this with a 1600 and 3gb 1060 - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=9SIA08C5YY4206  -> also has 16GB ram

your using a 580, not many places will sell them especially inside of a prebuilt (Australian Knowledge)

Or for 650 you can get a 2600 and an 8GB RX 580?

That system will cost more and performs worse? I don't see your point

Also the ram is 2400, it will slow down the processor significantly

the 1600 isnt that much worse than the 2600

the ram speed won't offer that significant of a difference in gaming (Content creation is different), if your building yeah go the faster one as there isnt much of a price difference between 3000 and 2400

also saves the hastle of building it for his friend and if the friend lives in a different area to him (as i have a few friends across the world) the second shipping cost to get it there. yes i understand that you will get a bit better performance from building yourself but the question was - i'm looking to get a prebuilt for $650 max, any suggestions?

Yes it will, Ryzen's architecture depends on ram speed to perform well. The way it handles bandwidth is weird.

Oh yes it will, Ryzen CPU loves nothing more than fast RAM. I mean yeah, you can overclock the RAM, but I would rather do it on a better B450 board than the A320

3GB 1060 = RX 570.

Where did you see this?

Ryzen is a fantastic option for people a budget, or even people not on a budget.

I've been running a 1700 in my system for two years now and performance has been pretty consistent, also got a decent OC on it

You won't be able to get a decent system from intel on your budget unless you buy used

I think you have some separate issues, have the same motherboard as you.

Should definitely look into that.

Though regarding your friends PC, a 2600 is the way to go.

There's a few notes to make on this subject:

1- Yes, Ryzen processors won't beat out a say 8600k because of their single core performance. HOWEVER- this should not turn you off from looking at Ryzen. Their chips are still GREATLY equipped for games, and for a highly discounted price compared to an Intel equivalent

2- Yes Ryzen requires faster ram, the way it handles memory bandwidth is different from Intels, but even on Intel, having faster memory will subject a difference in performance. Besides, the price to go from 2400->3000 is fairly minimal. You shouldnt be getting anything lower than 2666 in the first place

If you want to get your friend an Intel based system, they will have to do one of two things:

- Sacrifice graphics performance to equate for the processor cost

or

-Buy used and get a system that is within budget, then throw in a graphics card if it doesn't have an adequate one already

So yes Intel has stronger chips for gaming, but that fact alone shouldnt make you turn away from Ryzen, it's a fantastic platform and offers great performance to people on a budget, such as your friend
