144hz stuck on 120hz

You might need to use Displayport.

Hello.

 

I just bought a new monitor Acer XF240H 144hz, when I turned my PC on and went to change the hz, it was already on 120hz and there are no other choices. 

I just HDMI cable and my drivers are up to date.

their website says 120hz max for HDMI, you need displayport as stated above.
