Can I use my laptop to boot into windows 7 and Mac OS?

Am I able to have it boot alongside windows 7 though?

I believe you can dual boot, but I've never installed it so I don't know. You can with Linux though, for that, I am certain.

I have an Asus K53e and I was thinking about buying mac os to install on it, but is it compatible and how would i go about it?

You can't buy Mac OS (OSX). It's called "Hackintosh", and it's free.

Laptops can be a pain. Yes you can and should buy a legal copy of Mac OS.

The OS is $19.99. The version you may be able to get to run on a laptop may vary. Whatever the install method? You should buy the Mac OS and all Mac Software. Video card, onboard sound, network is what matters on a "hackintosh". A "Mac" is just a intel pc with certain compatible intel/nvidia cards, network/sound cards.

Your laptop on Lion.

Mavericks.

A laptop is going to most likely take post install kexts and may have issues with sound/network. Laptops can be a pain to get 100 percent working. Once you understand how kexts work and there are utilities like kextwizard etc. it isn't bad.

Video of it running on your laptop with lion.

Desktops, especially if you stay on highly compatible motherboards (Gigabytes are usually damn near out of box compatible) are much easier to get up and running. Some older laptops may struggle to do anything but snow leopard. Sleep/wake can also be a problem.

So will it work? Yup. Will it work 100 percent in Mavericks? Might. Is it gonna take some reading and work? Definitely.

Dual booting OS X and Windows is much easier with 2 separate drives and in a desktop. You can however, dual boot on the same drive but it is much more trickier.

(You might have to navigate to the first page of the forum topic)

Instructions are the same as if you were going to install Mavericks

Refer to this link for instructions: http://www.tonymacx86.com/multi-booting/96000-guide-dual-booting-mountain-lion-windows-8-a.html

If you're going to be installing on the laptop, I would recommend that you install OS X, and then install Windows in a VM so that you wouldn't have to go through all the hassle of partitioning
