CPU Overclock

Okay, what makes some chips Overclockable, and some not? (I know that the "k" versions of Intel's processors are the ones that can be overclocked, and i think all ryzen chips can too, but i was just wondering why cant all cpu's be overclocked?)

Because Intel said so. 

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

It's a software lock, not hardware.

because intel locks the so called multiplier, which is a big part of your (and others) overclocking

 

if intel wanted to, they could just "unlock" everything, but they chose to get a little more money out of their "K" series.

 

you can still do BCLK overclocking on all, but that isn't easy if even possible

it's just a value in the BIOS (or Intel ME, not sure). You can change that unless it's locked away. This is different to SMT/HT which does need extra hardware

It's a business move. Shareholders want maximum profits, not much different for instance from Microsoft imposing limits such as memory depending if you bought starter, home, premium...

 

Doesn't anyone remember Intel's upgrade service? For some dollars it was possible to gain extra bins (clock higher), increase cache and in one case enable Hyperthreading.
