Zen 2 Motherboard

Which one do you prefer,

ASRock Fatal1ty X370 Gaming K4

ASRock X370 Gaming X

ASRock B450 Pro 4

ASRock B450 Steel Legend

Which one is the best overall out of the bunch? The board that can handle overclocked R3 3300/X or R5 3600/X, if possible.

P.S. They cost the same in my local shop, they're all €87/$100.

If they are all the same price range go for the Fatal1ty X370 Gaming K4 or X370 Gaming X.

Just keep in mind you may need a BIOS refresh on them as they are on the older X370 chipset

They should work fine with Zen2 when it comes out but will be needing a boost in the BIOS

Aren't specific Zen 2 motherboards coming out just for the Zen 2 ?  So mobos are out now that will work with Zen 2 ?

Well yes there will be motherboards geared for Zen 2 but its not a new socket.

I dont think AMD will pull a intel on us here

Good info my friend.  Best to just wait for Zen 2 and buy mobo Zen 2 and RAM together.

Well there is still one factor that may still occur, and that is the mobo manufactures.

While I dont think AMD itself will want us to throw away perfectly good motherboard out for a new chipset revision (that goes to intel) but the mobo partners may see things differently.

They raked in all this cash from intel changing the socket every 2 seconds so why not screw with AMD users?

That would be my concern, those with older A320 or B350 motherboards might be screwed as those mobo makers may undercut us on those platforms.

I heard that B350 won't support Zen 2, I have no idea about A320 tho.

That might be true but all we have is rumours and speculation.

But for what its worth the cost of a B450 motherboard isnt too bad so its not like Intel where a overclocking motherboard can cost you well over $200 not to mention not able to carry over the old processor too.

At least with AMD its going to be the same socket, no need for drastic change overs.
I mean yes my motherboard was around $80 brand new but that is small change compared to the insanity of intel's constant socket changing just for the hell of it.

idk, but I do know that the B450 Pro4 is not an OC heavy board. Its mostly utilitarian with great features.

The B450 Steel Legend is the newest of the bunch and from what I've seen it's pretty impressive, good design and strong VRMs.
I wouldn't be worried about the Zen2 not be compatible, AMD promised compability for few generations and this one will still use the AM4 / compatible.

Also the Zen2 I guess their power consumption is pretty good, being made on 7nm.

None of them can without a BIOS Update.

And that is all you need.

Question is: Do all Boards get that or only some

Yeah ofc I know I need to update my BIOS if I want to add 3rd/4th gen Ryzen with 300/400 series mobo ?. What I mean is the VRM ability to handle an overclocked 3rd/4th gen Ryzen, which one has the best VRM for overclocking.

My current choice is X370 Gaming K4.

well looks like the rumour about AB350 motherboards wont support zen 2 are true:

https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd/ryzen-3000-cpu-motherboard-support

Oh well, save up some money for X570 or X470 and at least I still can use my current processor for a bit if zen 2 proves a worthy upgrade.

Still better than intel in this respect, no need to change to a new mobo and new processor at the same time because intel changed the socket for the 800th time
