GPU for 144hz ultrawide?

I'm considering buying the LG 34GK950F-B but I only have a gtx 980, I also have a 4k wacom cintiq (3840x2160) and a dell u3415w (3440x1440) which I will be using as secondary and tertiary monitors, the wacom stays off unless im using it but I would like to use the dell to watch youtube/netflix etc while I game. What gpu should I get to play at 144hz? or should I wait until the next generation?

 

cpu is 4970k with a water cooler

32gb ram

 

I will also be playing in vr with a htc vive

Otherwise you probably want to look for a used 1080ti, or see if NAVI is any good in june/july. AMD has a presentation tomorrow, no idea what they'll show off.

I have a system with i7 8700k 2x 8gb ram 3200 Mhz Cl 14 <-- this maters RTX 2080 Ti with a 3440x1440p 120 hz monitor.

All i can say is i am hardly able to reach 120 fps in most modern games with everything turned ultra.

Pubg for example i am usually playing on the range of 100~120 but on games like Battlefield V Shadow of the tomb Raider i get drops to 80 aswell sometimes.

3440x1440p is no joke resolution even for the most high end card in the market.

Just think about it, a 3440x1440p monitor has 1/3 more pixels than a 2560x1440p, its 1/3 heavier than a regular 16:9 monitor.

You can pickup a new GTX1080ti Hydro for $629 on EVGAs website right now. Cheaper than a 2080 and is liquid cooled so more OC headroom. Otherwise VEGA64 for $349 and power tabled modded for 1080ti performance at the cost of 380 watts. Or if you really wanted to drop $1299 then a 2080ti but I just can't recommend that card. I have the same res monitor with a 1080 and I play games just fine at max settings. Usually 60-90FPS depending on the game

All i can say is i am hardly able to reach 120 fps in most modern games with everything turned ultra.

Pubg for example i am usually playing on the range of 100~120 but on games like Battlefield V Shadow of the tomb Raider i get drops to 80 aswell sometimes.

3440x1440p is no joke resolution even for the most high end card in the market.

Just think about it, a 3440x1440p monitor has 1/3 more pixels than a 2560x1440p, its 1/3 heavier than a regular 16:9 monitor. 

hmm, perhaps Ill have to wait for the next generation then

You can pickup a new GTX1080ti Hydro for $629 on EVGAs website right now. Cheaper than a 2080 and is liquid cooled so more OC headroom. Otherwise VEGA64 for $349 and power tabled modded for 1080ti performance at the cost of 380 watts. Or if you really wanted to drop $1299 then a 2080ti but I just can't recommend that card. I ran a 3440 X 1440 monitor for a while.

 

For 60fps on almost everything you need a GTX 1080.

For 80fps  on almost everything you need a GTX 1080 ti.

For 100fps on almost everything you need a RTX 2080 ti

For 144fps maybe next gen.

 

It is hard to realize but 4k 60hz is easier to run since it needs a lot less anti aliasing.
