Is it worth buying a cooler for the Ryzen 2600?

Go to solution Solved by Princess Luna,

I would personally say no, the whole point of a Ryzen 5 2600 is to save money... this processor hardly is temperature limited too, the only reason I can think on spending on it is for sole aesthetic appeal which to me feels a waste of money, rather spend it on a Ryzen 7 or for more silent operation.

Have in mind the Ryzen 5 2600 stock cooler is years better than any Intel stock cooler ever made.

Noctua D15 SE-AM4 or Dark Rock Pro4 for an air cooler (you can OC to 1.45V safely).

These are very large and tall, so for a smaller option compatible with smaller cases (such as Micro-ATX cases) anything that's equal or better to the H80i or Kraken X52 is a good alternative.

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

Welp, they're very expensive and I would exceed my budget.

What about a Noctua U14S? According to Noctua's website, since 2019 they include an adapter for AM4. If yours does not have the adapter, you'll need to buy the NM-AM4-UxS mounting kit (also from Noctua).

I would say that just use the stock cooler.

While the 2600 has a downgraded cooler from 1600, it is still like 10x better than intel, and considering that the ryzen chips are very cool/chill compared to intel cpus, that makes a big difference.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

No, they just can't support every single socket ever, without a conversion. Plus it's only really AM4
