Flashing black lines

ChrisZH

So occasionally on my desktop in the upper half of my screen i sometimes get a quick flash of what seems like black lines. What does this mean? I dont know how regularly it happens. I am undervolting my Radeon VII though and have an overclock of 3.9ghz with 1.375v on my 1700x.

Could it be a dual monitor setup? My undervolt is stable in Superposition and also Heaven.

been way to long for me to remember.

at first i would say if line was interment clear across screen, i would say monitor is having issues physically.

but there are some apps that "produce" an overlay across rest of the desktop. the app runs right quick without time to respond and vanishes just as fast. (annoys me, and caught some updates for different programs).

things to try / come to mind.

  • unplug and re-plug your video cable in see what happens.
  • if anything try another video cable or another monitor or another pc.  its the old ugly swap out till ya narrow it down.
  • turn off any sort of "sleep, hibernation, turn off at given x time", set things for performance, and restart pc.
  • reduce resolution / refresh rate, see what happens.

Well i went back to a more conservative with only undervolting and not overclocking. I havent seen it again so far. I also unplugged my second monitor so i only have 1 display going. Could undervolting or overclocking cause this though? Im sorry its hard to describe what happened, i mean it could also be me blinking really fast lol idk

Looks kind of similar to that but it flashes across in like a milisecond. Almost hard to notice

Could this also have anything to do with dual monitor setup? I have a 144hz 1080p monitor as my main and a 44in TV as my second.

So i have unplugged my second monitor and have not noticed the flashes. Also able to run heaven with a good 80mV undervolt going. Even played division 2 for 4-5 hours and not a single crash. Idk if it was the dual monitor setup, but so far no issues to be reported.
