After reinstalling Windows several times to figure out a bsod issue I think it is caused by my cpu. I use a core i7 3820 and core 2,3,5 and 7 are parked. The bsod happens after I unpark my cores. My system does have a valid warranty so please say if you think its defective. I can provide additional info if you need any

Goto UEFI and disable Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology,

Okay thanks! will this effect anything and how do you think this will help?  because I'm a bit nervous with tweaking settings in the BIOS/UEFI

It disables energy saving modes like downclocking, undervolting etc.

Oh, and I was just searching online apparently you should also disable C1E or something?      Would I need to do that too? Or is that something totally different.

I am pretty sure C1E is not on your system, because it is related to the Front Side Bus(which is gone since like Nehalem came out)

Well I'm using Sandy Bridge e... which I would assume is using the sandybridge, or maybe Ivy Bridge.

Does anyone think my cores are defective? I find it diconcerning the core numbers that are parked

fast way to tell would be raise the cpu vcore to 1.4 - 1.5v and try  unparking the cores.

NOTE:Only do this if you have a quality heatsink that can dissipate 125+ watts of heat well.(e.g. something on par with or better than an H80)

Adding voltage would do the same thing that it did for the Phenom X series, allow you to use cores that are inefficient and/or flawed.

Just an idea, obviously there are other things that could stop it from working even with more voltage.

ahh okay, I won't do that because I never want to mess with voltage.

I'll try reinstall first, so everything is clear and I'll be able to try these things you've recommended without any software potentially interfering. And I find it funny how the BSOD (in blue screen viewer) claims that ndis.sys was the cause.  Yet from searching online ndis.sys is caused by network card drivers.  I do have a wireless network card because I don't own an ethernet cable.  So I'm starting to think if somehow unparking the cores interferes with the network adapter. (which is PCI x1)

EDIT:  Also, On my last post about unparking cores, CPU 1, 3, 5 and 7 were parked which I assumed were the threads.  http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/78903-how-to-unpark-cpu-cores-and-is-it-safe/   but now, its core 1,3,4 and 7.  Does this mean that now I'm only using 3 cores and a extra thread?
