Overclocking I9-9900k for every day use

Go to solution Solved by HoneyBadger84,

... The processor does 4.7 boost on all cores stock. Just saying. ???

Getting to 5GHz isn't that hard as long as you have adequate cooling. Some chips need more voltage than others.

Does anyone have a good baseline for overclocking an I9 that's not too high? I have a few tutorials (one from gigabyte themselves) on how to overclock to 5.0ghz on all cores. I'm more or less looking for 4.5-4.7Ghz on all cores without adding too much voltage. Or is it just something I have to spend a few hours on? attached is the pdf I plan to follow

It's going to take trial and error to find the voltage.  If you have a good chip and decent cooling, you could 24/7 5Ghz...lots of people do.

Gotcha! yeah 360MM AIO, but I didn't want to spend 3 hours overclocking! oh well, I'll do 5ghz and run Prime 95 for half an hour and see the temps! maybe it's in the 70's/80's and i can do that on the daily. Thanks!

My temps are in the high 60s peaking at 80-81C on a few cores at times at 5GHz 1.29V, and that's with both Prime95, and AIDA64 with cpu, fpu, cache and ram checked. I have a 280mm in push/pull configuration with the fans at about 70% most of the time (which is fairly quiet).

In prime95 specifically, if you see 90C that's actually not too bad, keep in mind the stock TJmax is 100C and it will throttle at that temp. Think it shuts down once it gets a bit higher than that (105-110).
