GTX 1050TI and Ryzen 5 1400 Bottleneck help?

Django2142

i have been trying to figure out why my performance has been dropping like crazy when i start playing certain games like the Division or battlefield 5, basically it starts off running all fine gpu usage 100% cpu usage 80%-100% then cpu usage drops to 20% and my frames drop to 20fps from 75+. Is there anything i can do about it.image.thumb.png.c837a1cbceb1f57aabb6c633ab228cab.png

If you have only one dimm of DDR4 2400, that's probably making life for the CPU hard.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

nah i have 2 dimm 2x4gb but i swapped to a evga gtx 970 sc and it seems to have stopped the bottleneck

That's rather interesting. The 970 is more powerful than the 1050 ti so there might be something wrong with the card.

Yeah, which is why the CPU is likely not the bottleneck. If the CPU was bottlenecking the graphics card, then swapping to a more powerful graphics card would exacerbate the stuttering problems.

would it be a good idea to upgrade my cpu to a ryzen 7 1700x or stick with the ryzen 5 1400?

Your current CPU is very capable. It looks like an upgrade to a 970 is what you needed.

If you wanted a graphics upgrade you can sell your current 970 and get yourself something like a 1080, it would be a lot better than SLI.

You can sell the 970 for like £120 or so, since you had £145 for another one (which is a bit steep) you should have enough for a used 1070 ti

ah good choice. the 570 likely won't sell for much so keep it as a backup.
