Hello,

I have a question, I am going to build a computer that will cost about 1400 euro's  (1895.63 USD) and i was wondering what would be better 2 gtx 760 msi gaming cards running in sli mode or 2 R9 270x msi gaming cards running in crossfire mode.

my build until now contains of:

(prizes form https://www.alternate.nl , I live in Belgium)

Is this a good build or could it be better ? Would you recommend another card above this that is around the same performance/price ratio? the build with the 2 R9 270x cards costs around 1350 euro's (1827.94 USD ) so its cheaper than the build with the 2 760's but is the price performance ratio as good as the 2 760's.

Thank you for reading this  :)

( I got the euro too USD convertion form this site: http://www.x-rates.com/calculator/?from=EUR&to=USD&amount= )

go for the asus rog mars 760. its 659 us might be hard to find but its an sli card so it helps with some of the sli issues by having a hardware sli. same price as the r9290x though and its a beast of a card.

Do you really need to SLI/Crossfire so early?

I'd get a nicer higher end card and SLI/Crossfire them later on after saving up a bit

Check out the build: Used to be Obot, now Lilith

Shameless: Me

get a single powerful GPU instead. Believe me bro, SLI can be a real pain in the arse.

if you have a money for a 780 or a 290. That'd be great.

The 760 sli is quite better.

What's the system being used for? Why sli, use 2400 memory, and watercool?

I'm moving this thread to the New Builds and Planning section.

I am planning for overclocking the cpu too around 4.6 ghz (hopefully), the 2400 mhz memory just was because it was only 10 euro more expensive than 1600 mhz memory the sli is because from what I have read on the Internet it is cheaper than the 780 and it outperforms it, btw it looks sexy ;)

The 2400 memory has a cas latency of 11 which is basically lag. Because of such a high latency, it's basically as good as CL9 1866 ram. Save your 10 euros.

A single card will have less issues, better cooling, and less noise than the 760's but if you're doing it for looks, then go ahead.

You can get 4.6 ghz with a good air cooler if your chip allows it. Something like a NH-D14, NH-u14s, Havik 140, or PH-TC14PE is a very good air cooling solution.

Well i could go with the crucial ballista elite memory: http://azerty.nl/8-756-532374/crucial-ballistix-elite-gehe.html

I am not planning on trowing away the water cooler, it just looks too good, maybe a r9 290 windforce (http://azerty.nl/0-5829-668511/gigabyte-gv-r929oc-4gd.html) would be a better deal, the problem is I won't be upgrading my computer for the next 4 years (maybe 3 it depends)..

So i am searching the best performance under the 450 euro mark (srry for not making this clear in the topic itself) and that's why I'm looking for the sli mode of the 760.

A single 290 would be preferred for the wider memory bus and more vram.

Mooie build.

Don't get a Toshiba hdd. Go for a seagate barracuda or wd blue instead--whichever is cheaper.

Go for a single 780 or 290 instead. The ROG 760 is even more expensive and just 2 760's in sli with worse cooling.

You couls save a good amount of money going with an air cooler like the 212 Evo.

Alternate does have extra charges for sending to Belgium. It depends on the weight but I recently bought my PSU and GPU there, was €12 for shipping as far as I remember.

I used tweakers.net and I can actually get you SLI 780 for ~€1500. If this is to much for your budget, then you could consider CF R9-290. The only big problem is, they are not in stock anywhere. So the price get's as close to the 780, where I would suggest to just get the 780s.

I did had to change your case tho, €140 is a lot of money for a case. It's ofcourse never easy to just pick a case out for somebody else because looks mather. But I picked a very solid one in my opinion, but there are many options.

Let me know if you want to see my setup.

I think that I will stick with my original build but then without the 2400 mhz ram, I will take 1866mhz(cl9) RAM  after seeing the video from linus about the memory clockspeeds and how it affects games, and other stuff (

) thank you guys for your great help, it really helped.

I am considering too swap the 2 760 with 1 780 dcu2 from asus.

It would be more stable and would be a lot more cooler, I will see.

Anyway thank you again for all the help!!

Alternate heeft verzendkosten maar niet zoveel over het algemeen een complete build kost je maar 16 euro verzenden. Veel succes verder. Alternate heeft een goede service.

I nearly managed to get 2 of those in your system. I went just slightly over budget this way. But yes, go with 1 780 and add one later if you feel the need for better performances.

SLI 760's will beat the 780ti, until a game is released that doesnt support sli<- this DOES happen, or has NO sli profile (at the time of release) <- this DOES happen.

Effectively giving you a single 760 card worth of performance. Which would SUCK knowing your second card is paperweighted,...Surely that'd suck more than having a 780ti and being beast with no issues coming from anything but the card itself... which rocks.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Keep it in English, there are people who try to help here who don't speak Dutch. And while I agree that alternate has great service and low shipping costs. Their prices are on the higher side because of this. So it's your own decision.

Can you give me a source from that? I saw that 760 SLI was slightly worse then a 780Ti.

Source would be the Asus ROG 760 Mars (which is 2 cards)  review from TTL, says it beats a 780 & 780TI (by his surprise), also shows benchmarking proof, video & text review is within the link provided.
