Asus has dropped the ball lately on motherboards, I recommend the Aorus board because working with aorus boards has been a treat for me.

i'm getting some new hardware because my i5 really shows its age at this point

im gonna pair my new mobo with a ryzen 5 2600 and then ill upgrade when ryzen 3 comes out(by using the same mobo)

so im stuck between:the gigabyte x470 aorus gaming 7 wifi and the asus crosshair vii

Asus has dropped the ball lately on motherboards, I recommend the Aorus board because working with aorus boards has been a treat for me.

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Thus far, all of the AIBs have done this, and it wouldn't really make sense not to. You can expect a BIOS revision for Ryzen 3000.

Not that I am disagreeing, but I had the CR6 X370 and CR7 X470 now, and I am wondering why all the hate on it? Is it the inadequate VRM cooling?

I mean I always see people saying that it is an issue, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that it is a non-issue, at least with my motherboard.

The price tag is not amazing. Aside from the iffy cooling, the power delivery is relatively similar, both 12 phase, but the price tag (gaming 7 and C6H VII) is in favor of gigabyte, and feature wise they're also extremely similar.

Fair enough, I know I have blind loyalty to Asus motherboards but if the same feature set can be found for less I can stand by that. I just cannot confirm the VRM cooling issues with my CR7 is all. Although I never blindly endorse Asus motherboards, if someone is on a budget my last resort is usually Asus due to the price tag attached.

A fine table about AM4 Mobos& ranked by VRM - OC abilites.

 

Locally, mostly MSI Gaming&Mortar B450 and Gigabyte Aorus offerings are recommended.

 

Btw, on good B450 platforms, you can nicely overclock and get ram speeds above 3200mhz, so, opting for B450 Mortar\Tomahawk can save some serious money.

Yeah TUF boards used to be badass, fallen from grace I suppose to fit the crappy middle tier options. Maybe Asus was hoping people would gravitate towards the TUF boards because of what they used to be. 

 

Sadly I sold it, in favor of an ITX build, but my 6700k is still sitting on the Asus Z270I ROG Gaming I replaced my Mark 1 with.

 

Also, Sabertooth Mark 1 sounds like some fictional space ship name, I love it.

The best AM4 motherboards are the X470 Taichi and Crosshair, but then again you need to have the budget to get them. If not in your range, yea the gigabyte is a fine one.
