First time posting so let’s go.

so recently my “gaming” keyboard broke and I’ve been thinking of finding a higher quality keyboard. However, when it comes to mechanical keyboards I’m quite new to the topic of Cherry Switches. I’ve looked over them and I’m not sure which one I should get. If you guys have any recommendations for which one I should use for good typing as well as gaming then please do tell but my main focus is what is the Cherry MX equivalent to the TTesport’s TT Type II Plunger Switch. This is the type that I used on my old keyboard and I loved it. Another option would be one that has the exact same feel as th TT Type II Plunger but with more feedback (as in click) because I adore that sound.

Thanks!

I love my keyboard, but most of all its about the feel and the noise. Do you like the clicky clicky? if so go Cherry switches, worst case senario, buy it at best buy in case you hate it. Also Best Buy price matches!

Hey there, welcome to the forum!

Keyboard switches are very personal, so take the below post with a grain of salt; always be sure to make up your own mind (by for example visiting a store and testing out some keyboard).

If you're looking for a clicky mechanical switch, you're best off choosing Cherry MX Blue (which would be Green in Razer's lineup if you wanted those, or Blue on basically any other switch manufacturer too).

They are not that heavy (bit heavier than the lightest switches) and have a clicky feeling where they activate.

Listening to a video of the mentioned switches, they kinda reminded me of Topre switches; which are kind of a mechanical/membrane hybrid (except they are good; instead of other 'memchanical' offerings :P ), but they are quite rare; to the point of basically being non-existant on normal boards.

But as mentioned above, you should really test out the switches to know what you like. Blues come the closest to what you are describing; Browns would be a second, but it's kinda personal if you like those.

Your old keyboard is a semi mechanical.

If you're really into that then you should take a look at Cooler Master Masterkeys Lite as it use similar type of switch.

But if you want a mechanical keyboard there's 2 option from Cherry that is Blue and Brown.

Blue is a bit heavy to register but will give you a clicky sound and a tactile bump, Brown on the other hand is lighter but not by much and would still give you tactile bump only without clicky sounds.

The other type of swicth is as other already mentioned is topre, they do feel good but they are kinda pricey.

But of course they are tons of mechanical switches out there and i recommend you to visit this website.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I think I'll follow on with the blue as the internal design follows the mentioned 'Plunger' and you all say its the closest. The reason im going with cherry is because they often make the most widely used mechanical keys and i trust them. I'll probably see if there is a store in my area that allows me to test the types of keys because im a cheap f**k and cant afford a cherry MX testing kit.

What is there to trust?

If you like click consider Kailh Navy and Jade switches.

Maybe trust is the wrong word. I just see it everywhere and right now i give up on defending the point of looking for Cherry MX. Although as i mentioned earlier, if there is an equivalent that is as close as possible out of any switch that there is, which one would it be. The Cherry MX Blue looks and seems to be quite similar so im gonna look out for those.

MX Blues are no where similar to Kailh clickbars, Cherry uses a click jacket while Kailh uses a click bar.

Aight too many fancy words for me sorry. And im not comparing any two brands. I just want the closest equivalent in ANY brand to what TT Type 2 Plunger Switch. I just want to know so i can get a new keyboard that has a similar feel to what i like.
