Task Manager not reporting correct GPU usage?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm new here!

I just built a new PC with a Ryzen 7 2700X, 16GB RAM, and an RTX 2060. While playing games, I'm seeing GPU-Z reporting 90-100% GPU usage, but task manager says it's always 0-5%. The odd thing is, task manager has it right when watching 4k videos, ect, at 20-30% usage. Is task manager just wrong, or am I doing something wrong? Is there any way to get task manager to report correctly?

Below you can see, directly after playing GTA V, the GPU history is almost empty in TM, but heavily used in the ASUS monitor.

task manager is useless for calculating usage, its almost always wrong. task manager sometimes records my clockspeed at 0.01 gigahertz.

Task manager is not always accurate. It shows my chrome ram usage as 1gb lol. Even when I have 50 tabs open, only 1gb ram usage.... It's obviously broken

Wouldn’t worry about it. Sometimes driver installs or sli setups mess it up. Use a proper gpu overlay or something.

When you Leave some games,..

Open,... but not in focus...

Aka minimized or behind another app, the client will reduce GPU load.

Many games reduce fps or stop rendering entirely while alt tabbed.

This is likely why you see less usage when checking Outside the game.

Use an InGame overlay like MSi Afterburner for ingame Realtime stats,.. or leave GPUz open in background as it will keep the history you can see how it Was running even if you leave the game or alt tab.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
