bluetooth 5 capabilities

TheBean

I have a phone with bt 4.x, laptop with bt 5.x, and headphones with bt 4.x

can i connect the headphones and phone to the laptop (bt 5 supports 2 connections), and allow it to somehow transfer the phone notifications/sounds/music to the headphones through my laptop?

I want to do this so I can get calls/messages even if i have headphones and I am gaming.

No. Simple answer.

You can't use your laptop as a speaker for your phone, so you can't forward that sound to another BT headset.

My Sennheiser HD 4.40 headphones (BT 4.1) can be connected to 2 devices at once if they've both already been paired before (Phone+Desktop, for your use case), might be worth a shot with your headphones, or might be worth grabbing a pair if it doesn't work with yours. I love mine and they were only $119 Canadian ($90 USD)

Okay so. I noticed your other thread. This is a forum, replies may take hours to come. It happens. Now....

First off, Not all Bluetooth 5 devices support 2 devices. That'd being said, You'd need a phone that broadcasts itself as an A2DP device.

  1. Pair your both devices with your laptop
  2. Select the headphones as the default listening device under audio settings
  3. ASSUMING your phone can BROADCAST as A2DP it will be listed under the Recording Tab in sound settings
  4. If the phone is there, right click the device, choose properties, choose the listen tab, and enable "Listen to this device"

And even then this may not work depending on how the Bluetooth chip in your laptop handles bluetooth. Does it keep bluetooth 5 functionality a 4.x device is paired or does it down version itself to Bluetooth 4.

So yeah, answer is maybe, but unlikely.

You could always hook your phones headphone jack upto the mic jack on your laptop, then select "listen to this device", then it'll play your phones audio through your default sound device (i.e BT headphones)

This is probably a more reasonable suggestion

Probably just needs some kinda configuration to set the port to Mic mode, but other than that it should be fine.

Do you have a cord that does Mic? Remember a normal 3.5mm cord only does audio and not the mic, you need one that specifically also does mic. I think it might be a 4 pole adapter, though Im not sure, I do know they make audio cords that have the connector also wired for mic.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
