I have decided I am tired of paying to rent a modem, router combo from Xfinity. I have been looking online l, I found the netgear cm700, I'm going to pair it with a drink exo ac2600 mu-mimo router. They seem like they will be a good for the the variety of connections I have in the house. We have several AC devices and also many 802.11n devices. If I understand it correctly this should allow all of our devices to connect and not interfere with each other as much. I would appreciate your comments on this thankyou

You shouldn't worry about device interference.

What you should worry is placing the AC devices closer to the router than the N, because 5ghz signal is not that strong compared to 2.4.

Configuration looks fine. Make sure you use Cat5e or Cat6 cables for your devices though.

What speeds do you pay for? I ask because if you have their gigabit plan that modem will NOT work. Even though it's rated for 1.4Gbps they won't let you use a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, you'll need a 3.1 modem.

If you don't pay for or plan to go with a gigabit cable plan then you're good and the CM700 is solid :)

Edit:

See below post, completely forgot about the Puma6 chipset

Don't forget, N applies equally to 5Ghz, so they might be using 5Ghz already in which case there will likely be an improvement even at the same range.

Personally though, I'd keep waiting for the end of the year when hopefully 802.11ax wave 1 routers become available as getting improvements to both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz is going to be very nice.

One issue I see is the CM700, 32 Channel Docsis 3.0 modems use the Intel Puma 6 chip I believe and I think all of them do. The issue is the Puma 6 is defective and there have been reports of horrible latency issues. While they have been trying to fix this with a software update, it seems that its more of a shitty design issue by Intel and not something software can fix. If you want a 32 Channel modem go with any Docsis 3.1 modem. Otherwise look at 24 Channel modems to be safe.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Who knows. I think Charter actively deploy's Puma 6 modems. It just how it is. Fact is its bad enough that Arris is getting sued over the SB6190 and its Puma 6 issues.

Doesnt have Puma 6 so that makes it much better. While I technically do have a Motorola modem myself, Motorola is not the same Motorola it used to be. I think a company called Zoom owns the brand. The Surfboard banding was bought by Arris. Id say the modem works, but many people I have seen suggest the SB6183 (16x4), the CM500(16x4), CM600(24x8).
