I7 9700k running extremly hot! (100 degrees)

Thankyou all for the replies i dropped my speed to 4.6 with 1.22 volt and it runs not hot anymore (prime95 76 degrees max,games around 65) thankyou all!!!!

I know this is a super old thread but I still run an I7 9700k and was constantly hovering around 100 deg as well.  I tried limiting max frequency and what finally worked for me was disabling the Turbo Boost.  It still runs at a beefy 3.6 Ghz so I haven't noticed any performance drop but in games, it's at 58 deg instead of 100.
