Best OS For Acer Aspire One Netbook

G'day Ladies and Gents, 

Whats the best option for an 2009-ish Netbook, that shipped with Windows XP? The specs are...

 

Intel Atom Z520

2 GB Ram (Upgraded)

Intel GMA Graphics

And a 500 GB HDD (Also Upgraded)

 

I'd prefer anything other then XP, I've tried Everything I can think of. What do you guys think? Should I throw it outside and run it over with my quad? Or, is there some kind of Linux or MacOS or Custom Windows thats optimized for Atom CPU's? Cause I'm lost.

I had Linux Mint on a Netbook. It didn't totally suck like windows does on this shitty hardware.

The Z520 is a proper anal disaster of a processor, because it's a SOC with a finnicky PowerVR GPU. You can try Lubuntu or any LXDE distro, but I think the only platform with proper support is Windows.

My best bet would be something like Xubuntu. I had a 1005HA and that thing really woke up ditching my XP/7 dual boot and tossing it on.
