CPU lever

So this is a dumb question,but im trying to settle a debate.my friend claims that he installed his AM4 cpu without lifting up the lever on the mobo and just put it in and it works. It's not possible to install a am4 cpu on a motherboard without the lever being lifted up correct?

It is possible. On PGA sockets the retention arm doesnt block the CPU in place like LGA sockets do, that's why you can see people rip out CPUs as they try to get the cooler out and the thermal paste stuck both together.

We literally just took his cpu cooler off to install a new one and the cpu did not budge. Safe to say he's bluffing right?

Nope. That will only happen after the thermal paste as set for years, if not decades.

Word! that happened to me thank god it didn't hurt anything, always give the cooler a twist with a PGA cpu
