Overclocking 9900K: PSU connectors

Hi Everyone,

It's becoming more apparent that I'll be getting myself the i9-9900K processor and I'm planning to overclock it to as much as it can handle. I'll be getting the Gigabyte Aorus Master motherboard which is said to have 8+8 EPS 12V connectors. I was going for the following PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 850W but then I noticed it has only one 8-pin connector and another 4+4 connector, so I concluded I should get a different PSU and this seems like the only good (Tier 1) option I could find: Seasonic Prime Ultra 850W Titanium - Is this indeed the one I should go for?

The 4+4 connector is equivalent to an 8 pin. The point of the 4+4 is so it can be used on both motherboards that require 4 pins and those that require 8 pins.

You might as well ignore the second 8 pin connector. It's more useless than RGB, when it comes to overclocking.

Wow!! that's amazing to know, means I can safely use the Dark Power Pro 11 which I also like the most - Thank you

edit: also good to know that I don't really need the extra power, gotta research into that~

OMG that's lucky... I really want the 7980XE and am only settling for the 9900K because I can't find it anymore and its successor 9980XE seems horrible as it has no OC or delidding possibility... in Netherlands (EU) I can't find 7980XE anywhere :(

so I hope to find new hedt/workstation CPU next year whenever new series arrive

Tbf I would've kept 9900K but I found 7980XE for £700, and in store it's like 1.7K! Motherboard X299 EVGA DARK (brand new) was £300 so it's a stellar deal. I have adequate cooling for it too.

Looking forward to it.

I may be selling my 9900K and AORUS Master motherboard.

Get it to 5.1Ghz (which is very very possible with 1.3V) and you'll get single core scores of like 225 or so. Multicore of 2250.

Thank you XD

The CPU lottery scared me a bit to discover that you can run into bad chips, but seeing such high results encourages me again. I thought in worst case delidding the CPU will make a difference

You don't happen to have an idea about where to find 7980XE do you?

I bought one from the local CeX (which is like a chain of shops which buy and sell used electronics etc) someone traded in 7980XE for £500 and they sold it for £700. That was the only one ever available there. I checked website history. Lucky me.
