Intel i5 8400 vs ryzen 5 2600 for photoshop

Thinking of building a pc mainly for adobe photoshop and lightroom. I would also do some light video editing on premier pro. Which cpu to choose i5 8400 or r5 2600?? Or something else?

i would choose the R7 1700x as it around the $160 as the 2600 simply because of more cores! as that win the race in that kind of workload.

There is no enemy. The foe on the battlefield is merely the manifestation of that which we must overcome. The doubt, and fear, and despair. Every battle is fought within. Conquer the battlefield that lies inside you, and the enemy disappears like the illusion it is.

It's hard to say. The 2600 when overclocked beats the i5 8400 in most workstation oriented tasks but Adobe supports quick sync which you need an Intel cpu to use.

R7 1700x is a bit costlier over here and out of my budget

I would choose 2600. It will also leave you better options down the road. I use photoshop for work on my 2600x and haven't had any issues and I came from an I7.

2600 and upgrade in 5 months or later, or wait for 5 months before building.
