The Windows 7 driver works on Windows 8 but keep in mind you won't be able to enable RTX. You should look at getting a Windows 10 copy it is extremely cheap on grey market websites.

Upgrade to Windows 10. Just type in your current Windows license (even if it is Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1) after you installed Windows 10 in the Settings menu, then it should activate just fine.

Thanks for the help. Managed to upgrade to win10, hasn't asked my for a license key so guessing it just took the one that was already in the system from win8.

It's a free upgrade from 8, no key necessary.
