Recording HDR Game Play on PCs

The basic challenge here is that most of the game recording applications out there are still only set up to handle 8-bit video.  So when you try to record 10-bit HDR games with them, data gets truncated and the results are... well... awful.  You'll see in the video.  The only exception I know of at this point in time is Mirillis' Action! app.  It's commercial, but inexpensive.  It inline converts 10-bit to 8-bit before the file is written out.  This causes a hit in game frame rate, and in my mind: unacceptable.  They've claimed they plan to support writing 10-bit files... sometime.  But they've not really said when.  Ultimately I'd rather see OBS Studio step up to the plate and support 10-bit video.  It's a vastly superb piece of software compared to all else that's out there (IMHO).  I've set up a suggestion to the OBS devs and am looking for folks to up-vote it.  https://ideas.obsproject.com/posts/356/support-10-bit-video

 

Are there other apps that I haven't thought of?  Maybe something else out there support 10-bit video output?

eh, many dont even have a monitor to watch these content in their full glory anyway

That wasn't my point and I'm sorry if I didn't mention that.  I have no problems outputting an 8-bit SDR video from my NLE after editing, for later upload to YouTube, et al.
