GTX 1050 Ti vs GTX 1060 3GB vs RX 560

Avijith458

Hey guys, I'm stuck trying to pick one of these GPU's for my budget build.

Zotac Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti 4GB OC Edition - This retails for $185 USD

MSI Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB (second hand, - This sells for $228 USD)

AMD RX 560 4GB - This retails for $185 USD

Any help would be greatly appreciated! My budget is maximum $200 and I can try bargaining the GTX 1060, not too sure how it'll go though..

My specs are:

Intel Core i5 4590

8GB DDR3 1600Mhz

Nvidia GeForce GT630 (terrible, I know..)

Sony 55" 4K TV (but I plan on gaming at 1080p on this TV)

Cooler Master Masterwatt Lite 500W PSU

I even have a Dell 1680x1050 monitor, if that helps, I don't mind using either one, whichever fits my system the best!

Thank you in advance!!

Those prices sound ridiculous for those cards. Where do you live?

Just game on the monitor, games will look awful at 1080p on a big 4k tv, not to mention the input lag.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

Pick up a rx 570 or 580, those are going for $150-180 USD.

I would also like to know where a 1060 3gb is going for over 200. In my local craigslist there are 3 listings for 120-150.

You could do SLI with the 1060 I think. The 1050 TI definitely can't.

1070 minimum for SLI.

RX580 can do crossfire.

The GTX 1060 3GB would be the best choice for performance, but since you'd be limited with the i5 and having only 8GB of RAM I'd recommend going with the GTX 1050 Ti 4GB.

I assume this is in some random country where RX cards cost a lot more, on top of computer hardware costing more in the first place? The 1060 3gb is the best deal. RX 560 has just 1050 performance and will get its ass kicked in comparison, while the 1050ti is quite a bit slower than the 1060 3gb even when the 1060 runs out of VRAM and starts using system memory for video memory. Being a 3GB card means it's unlikely to be an ex-miner (not enough VRAM for mining lol) so lifespan should be alright.

It's a relative used pricing here in India, I just converted it to USD to make it a little easier to understand the pricing here

Thanks! How long would this card be able to handle 1080p games though?

This is India, where prices are sky high and yes, the good RX cards are very high in comparison with Nvidia.. Yeah I was keen on the 1060 3GB but would it be any better since I'm limited to 1080p anyway? Would the 3gigs be enough?

It technically is. But 3gb kills longevity. Hence why trying to get a 4gb card of a 570 or 580 is a better bet. Hell if you can try and search around for a 470 or 480 used. Better yet. You can go back a little farther, ie to gtx 970 (a 3.5gb card) or a r9 390x or 290x.

Try to get RX570 or RX 580 from used market, if you live in metrocity then you will definitely find rx580 for 150 to 200 bucks.

I did find a good RX580, thanks to one of the links given by the friendly guys here, I will look into that! I tried searching for the other cards, there was a GTX 970 for $160 USD, does that make sense?

Yes I'll keep a lookout for the RX570 and RX580! Are these a good choice over the GTX 1060 3gb?

RX580 will be the better choice over 1060 and RX 570 gives almost similar performance like 1060. But if we see the price to performance ratio the AMD GPU always beats Nvdia

Okay, so here's an update, I have found these on the used sites:

Zotac GTX 1060 6gb AMP! for $192 USD

MSI Gaming X RX 470 4GB for $200 USD

ASUS Strix GTX 970 4GB OC for $168 USD

Among these available options, which is a better bet for really good 1080p gaming?

P.S. A huge thank you to everyone for their inputs so far!!! Really means a lot! :)

Yes, just use normal or medium texture quality settings and do not use high AA settings

For Nvidia used cards, the newest card will always be as fast as one higher class in the previous generation.

For example, 1060 (10-60) is the replacement for old 9-70, should be as good, if not better than the latter.

For AMD, if you cannot get the 580, you can also browse for 480, same class but slightly faster, if you can only get the 480, it is good enough.

470, like the 570, perform similar to 1060 3gb.

Out of those 3 cards, 1060 6gb is the clear winner, it has the biggest ram.

But, if i were you, i would just find it in US market and get it shipped to india.

You can get 580 8gb version for less.

Or you can do this:

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w
