I have this weird problem when running games I have noticed it for about a month but in the last 2 or three weeks it has gotten a lot worse and is occurring more frequently.

My pc specs are

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8 Ghz

AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB

Asus M5A97 AM3+ Motherboard

Corsair XMS 3 8GB ram

Acer V223HQV 21.5” 1920x1080 monitor

Xigmatek CPU Cooler

I have tried removing overclocks, changing graphics card fan speed the only way I know how to fix it is to open a YouTube video in full screen.

This occurs in Battlefield 4, Battlefield 3, Payday 2 and F1 2013

I have tried running other monitors and the problem still persists

Maybe a problem with the port or cable coming from your GPU?

Edit: Or downgrade or upgrade drivers if possible.

It appears to be a software problem, you say it only happens after playing these games?

try re-installing the games or verifying the game cache, this may help.

I have never seen such a problem before. It could indeed be a driver issue, try going back to an older version of your graphics driver.

Other than that you could maybe try reseating the cooler on the card, inserting it into a different pcie slot (if available).

Thats all I can think of for the moment.

Well. Your gpu is pretty outdated. Anyways. Did you use the same cable on the different monitors, did you use the same ports on the back of your pc? Its either something with the port, cable, drivers, windows or you have to start saving for a new gpu. However, it also looks like something I was struggling with on my old laptop, where my mobo got fried.

Ohh it only happens in those games? Drivers and game don't like each other. Actually it still could be alot of things...

I once explained to my girlfriend what true love is. I said, "If you were a shit, I'd put you back in" and to this day, she is still my little shit.

I use DVI on my main monitor which is the one in the photos and when testing to see if it was the monitor i used VGA because it was a CRT. Running latest AMD drivers and i doubt any of the cables have become faulty and Windows 8.1 was installed mid November.

I have extra PCI-E slots so i can try that and I can also downgrade drivers in terms of reseating the cooler i don't have a screwdriver small enough :(

I would suggest that reseating the cooler should be a last option fix. You could damage the GPU or any of the ram chips on it in the process and there are many other things that can go wrong. + you will need some thermal paste for when you put the cooler back on again. all in all it could be problematic but it could also solve some problems if you get to that stage.

As stated earlier a clean install of windows is a good idea too.

Can you try the GPU on another computer, and see if the problem persists?
You could also reinstall the drivers...

I think I may of fixed it I rolled back the drivers and I was able to play a full round of Battlefield :) hopefully the problem doesn't persist if it does i will try some of the suggestions that you have provided thankyou for your help. It must been some sort of compatabiity issue with the latest driver.

I'm glad we could help, just a quick note, what version of catalyst were you running? was it a beta version or just the most recent stable release?

You should report the bug either way but its even more important to do so if it was a "stable" release.

most recent stable release.

You should definitely send a bug report then because there will be many not as tech knowleged people with their 6870's that are installing the release as it is labeled as stable. They will then get a big fright.
