hey peoples ive got a gtx 1060 want to upgrade what's best path or maybe upgrade system altogether  got a maximus 8 hero z170  i5 7500 16gb 2133..

Just a question, why would you get that high end board and pair otherwise mid range hardware with it?

 

As for upgrade path, you can try BIOS modding so you can fit a Coffee Lake CPU in there. The board's good enough to be worth the time. Not a good time to buy faster graphics cards anyway

Your motherboard is seriously overkill for the rest of the hardware you got.

 

Honestly you are on a bad spot... if you improve the GPU you'll need better CPU and faster memory to keep up with it and keeping the motherboard would mean limiting yourself to the i7 7700K which I'd pair only with a RTX 2070 as games become more CPU demanding lately.

motherboard is high end because I hate cheap mobo's  and can fit higher clocked mem and cpu's I guess but im still selling my gpu so that's why ive asked never know sometime gota get others opinion.

Yep for now planed upgrades for later but I'm at a standstill now keep it and upgrade it or sell what's better for that system don't wanna mess with the bios.

Keep your RAM, change your CPU, there will be a bottleneck with a 2070 paired.  What is your budget for new mobo and cpu ,,,,, You can get a Gigabyte Aorus Elite or Pro use your RAM, and get a 6700k or 7700k and give her a turbo boost clock and what not.

Maybe get something else I'd spend as much upgrading it to be fast but in the end less than the 8th gen i7 for the same price what do ya think 7700k still expensive as a 6 core I'd just go a lower tier motherboard buy the higher core count system.

Getting this as a boot drive to replace my sandisk ssd will be better at loading times I guess.
