HTPC CAD Workstation?

Hi all,

I was wondering if there are any decently priced HTPC sized workstations available? I have had a look around with the Vivomini being a good size however other small form factor PCs with decent performance seem to be hard to come by.

I could go a little bigger, mostly vertically and possibly build my own if that would be the better choice?

The main program I need it to run is Autocad and since it will mostly be a presentation PC only minor changes will be made in the program.

I am looking around £500 give or take.

Any help would be largely appreciated.

-Jamie

I'm running a Node 202 case with a GTX1080 and a Ryzen 1700X so I guess you can have high powered HTPCs :P

For that budget I'd look into something even smaller and just use a Ryzen 2400G. You'll only need an itx motherboard and sfx psu and you are pretty much good to go. I'd add M.2 storage as well because it's really easy to install and no cable clutter.

30 £ over budget but you could just swap to 2x4gb ram and the budget would fit.

I would recommend the 2400G for a better experience if you are going to launch demanding applications. 4c/8t and the stronger igpu just beat the 2200g performance wise.

I figured wifi would be good if you don't have ethernet and / or want to be mobile, change rooms. But you can just take a non wifi board and save a few pounds.

The case can fit a atx size psu and some modularity will be your friend.
