First uppgrade need help choosing! CPU MOBO GPU

Go to solution Solved by Slayer3032,

If you're wanting to upgrade from a 4790K and a 1080, you're going to want a RTX 2080($800) or RTX 2080 Ti($1500) and a 8700k, 9700k or 9900k($600-900 all included) otherwise you won't be seeing like more than a 5-10% increase in performance if not a possible decrease even. This is going to pretty much be a $1500-2000 upgrade otherwise it's going to be a very underwhelming upgrade for about $1000. You would probably see the most FPS increase from a newer cpu/motherboard and ddr4 though, getting like a 9700K wouldn't be an awful idea. I wouldn't recommend buying any of the new GPU's as they're all massively overpriced.

I would start with using DDU, then resetting your bios if you've messed with anything that you didn't know how it worked. Next I'd reinstall windows or something. This is all of course assuming that something in your system isn't massively overheating and throttling, ect.

a gpu upgrade wouldn't hurt here. put that 4790k on a hefty overclock and pair it with a 2080 or a used 1080 ti

What type of performance are you looking for?

Your cpu is still fairly strong and your gpu is alright as well.

What resolution/refresh rate? Are you looking at streaming or productivity work?

crashes? you might want to troubleshoot it then, the problem might be somewhere else

If you want to change anything, maybe a cpu upgrade, but that's not going to be cheap
