'tis a scam. They had a banner up a while ago.

I just recently got an email from Google with an invitation to look at some album that "Techquickie Giveaway" shared with me. Is assume this is fake. And have certainly not clicked the link in the comments.

Just wanted to let people know this exists

what's the point of an announcement if people don't read it?

To feel good about preventing something even though no one notices it.

Like that SpongeBob episode Wormy, where SpongeBob and Patrick feel like they saved the city even though they destroyed it.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

I guess Linus wont be doing no giveaways anytime soon.

I am sure there will be another post on this exact same issue tonight and tomorrow. Because the entire world revolves around North America!

I wonder how many people actually fell for it instead of reporting it

Lots do, even the Nigerian Princess too. Common sense is not so common !

There is another aspect to the giveaway scam

average age. So its too easy for the scammers, though kids these days are tech savvy but not too street smart so there is that.

my favourite one is when Telstra (large phone & internet provider that owns most of the lines in Australia) calls you saying your computer has a virus or you owe them hundreds of dollars and they only way you can pay is by iTunes gift cards.

it seems reeeaaaaal dumb, but it works on enough people that they keep doing it

Yeah I know but people fall for it, all they need is 1 in 1000000000 to bite, but the odds, sad to say are much lower then that, probably 1 in 10,000 or 100,000. Easy pickings because our society is getting older and older. The tax scam is a good one.

You know it's not legit because there isn't enough clickbait. Now if the title had said something like "I can't believe you won! Click here to see your prize NOW!!!11@" then you would know it was legit...
