So I just got a Corsair H100x and I pulled it out of the plastic bag and the cover that was on the bottom fell of and stayed in the plastic bag. I took it out and looked at the cooler and the paste touched my shirt and smeared some paste over my shirt, there is now a spot on the cooler with no paste, can I still use it? I don't have thermal paste around.

You'll be fine. Monitor your temps after hooking things up just to be sure.

Yeah, it will probably work because the mounting pressure will spread the paste that is still there out a bit in all directions.

But if it was me I would just clean it off, get new paste, and reapply. Just to be safe.

A little too much thermal paste is better than too little so I always err on that side of things.

This is so easily done! Same happens to me with the first cooler I bought.

I just cleaned it off and applied my own paste and it works fine.

I will redo the paste one day but I need a new tube now as mine is very old (2011 I think)

Everyone recommending he apply new paste didn't read the entire post.

That being said.  If you are going to be building or working on a computer you should have some on hand. Thermal paste, even the good stuff, is fairly cheap.

I agree with what others have said apply the block and check your temperatures.  If the temps are good you are, too.  If it's good or not you should buy a tube of whatever your favorite paste is.
