I am looking to upgrade my laptop CPU.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5338 that came out in 2009 and right now it has a intel celeron t3000.

I am looking for a intel core 2 duo but I am unsure which one to go for.

Main PC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

~i7 3770k 4.3ghz Arctic Freezer 33 Esports-Edition

~GTX 1080 MSI AERO (I literally paid £330 for this)

~Samsung 860 EVO 500gb | WD Blue 1TB

~Kingston HyperX 2133Mhz DDR3 4x8gb

~Corsair SPEC-03 Red

Acer Aspire 5338 (2009 Laptop)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Intel Celeron T3000 (Dual-Core @ 1.8ghz)

GM45 iGPU (Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family)

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

Hynix 4GBx2 1066mhz(800mhz)

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (used to be on Vista)

I have no professionalism if you call 1 year with 3d modelling and unity "professional."

I asked my friend "So how many things do you have rgb so far?" He responded, "The only things that I have RGB is my GPU, CPU cooler, Keyboard, Mouse, Mousepad, Laptop, Ram, Motherboard, SSD, case fans, PSU, cheapo-RGB leds, razer phone 2 and "

you will honestly be better off grabbing a used laptop from 2012. you can still get some solid devices from the time period

Just saying I am looking to upgrade this laptop's CPU since I need it to function better for web browsing, editing word documents and that fact I don't want to buy another laptop until another year.

I know I can upgrade the CPU but I just need something I can web browse and function basic work tasks.

I have seen socket p cpus go for up to £50 but I have looked on ebay, amazon and other websites but I am unsure what CPU to get.

I am not asking which laptop to buy so any comments suggesting "Just buy a new laptop." I will just ignore as they are not helping with my situation.

You're looking for Socket P/mPGA478MN CPUs.

I'd stick with a 35 W CPU, as that's what the Celeron T3000 is rated at and is what the system cooling/motherboard may be adjusted for.

Your options:

  • Celeron T3000, 1.8 GHz (your current CPU)
  • Celeron T3100, 1.9 GHz
  • Celeron T3300, 2.0 GHz
  • Celeron T3500, 2.1 GHz (17% faster than the T3000; used is £6 on eBay UK)

Might want to checkout the X9100 which is unlocked and cost USD850 in it's day but now around $20.

If your using that 65W adapter you might need to keep it closer to it's default 3GHz though. Or maybe the quad core QX9300 which cost over USD1000, it is also unlocked. Need to check if your BIOS supports it and that the heatsink can cover it as well as being able to supply the juice.

If your concerned about power then there's the P9700 to consider at 2.8GHz
