Hey guys,

So I've been looking into 3D modelling and animation and as part of that I want to create some models/animations that I would then go on to use in a project like a game for example. The kind of animation I'm wanting to do is to animate for something that doesn't have a set constant. It's kinda hard to put directly into words so hopefully an example will better explain it. If I wanted to animate a character picking up a glass and I have multiple different sized glasses I want to have an animation that would stop as it grips the glass regardless of the diameter of the glass without clipping into it, or leaving a gap. Similar to if I made a character hug another character, I would like it to tighten the hug to the size of the person he's hugging and go no further.

My question is, is there a name for this kind of animation or does it even exist and if so are there any good guides/tutorials for it

Any help appreciated

Thanks
