Okay so I don't know where to start Updating bios on a gigabyte ax370m ds3h

There are generally 2 ways, in the bios, there is a check for update function or you have to plug in a USB with a bios from their website. I would check your motherboard manual.

Download bios from https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AX370M-DS3H-rev-1x#support-dl-bios, read manuals on methods to update it. Easiest way is to have a CPU installed, go into windows and run their program.

i guess i need to pick up a cheap 1000 series cpu update it and then sell it

as im currently trying to use a ryzen 5 2600 and i need the bios update for that to work properly
