Custom ITX Case (advices) for my build

Avorik68

Hi,

I couldn't find any cheap PC case on the market that could fit into my backpack, so I decided to build it by my self.

Here is my progress so far. I'm looking for your advices if the airflow is gonna be good, if the HDD can be mounted that way, and overall design what would you change and what you like.

Basicly I'm doing poor replyca of http://www.louqe.com/

The components are:

CPU: R7 2700 (non X)

MBO: ASROCK Fatal1ty B450 Gaming-ITX / AC  (... will buy)

GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 6GB Amp

PSU: HX620W (620W)

SSD: 250 GB (2.5")

HDD: 500 GB (3.5")

AIO: CM MASTERLIQUID LITE 240 (... will buy)

P.S. where should I put "front" I/O panel?

Why not the Silverstone SG13W? It is cheap and small.

What are the dimensions? Eyeballing them, it looks like 310 x 155mm x 230 - totaling to ~11 liters. You may be better going with the SG13B (At ~13 liters).

Regarding manufacture, what materials do you want to use?

Generally, making your own case will not be cheaper (nor will it look as good) unless you're willing to spend tons of time working on it. I have a couple of designs that I've been working on for 3 years and manufacturing 'em has been a pain - even with experience with CNCs and laser/plasma cutters.

Cooling looks to be fine; however, make sure you have enough height for the pump - the hard drive may make it a bit tight.

It's fine to mount a hard drive like that.

Front IO is a total pain to implement in custom cases. Your best bet is to buy one from Lian-Li and slap it on. Fully custom is not worth it.

Oh sorry forgot, the dimensions are: 300 x 155 x 270 (mm).

Whole construction would be made with sheet metal. I have some expirience with jigsaw so it shouldn't be a problem to cut straight pices out.

I'm on a tight budget so I was thinking of using stock cooler until I can buy AIO (or maybe to buy M.2 SSD so i can get rid of that HDD).

If the stock cooler is gonna be okay I won't buy AIO and make the case smaller (need to test this first).

160 mm is the max width that can fit into my backpack.

Hopefully I can build this case for 30$ (front panel included).

I plan to buy some cheap front panel from ebay with 2. USB 3.0 and smash it somwhere on the left side, that could be my upper side.

Forgot to mention stock cooler is 70mm, so Silverstone SG13W is out of question... Tho it's a nice case! (I'll keep it in mind if somthing changes)

As metioned before, it  could Costa you a lot more than just zu buy a case. It will take quite some time and you will encounter quite some problems with the design during the buildprocess. You should also exectly plan out how  to attach the parts what kind of mounts you need and oft there is enough space for them. And dont forget the cables. And you will find yourself in a situation where you need so sacrafice some qualität in order to be able to finish your build.

TRUST ME I‘M AN ENGINEER?

you can also buy Front io panels corsair

Jonsbo U3S or Jonsbo C3 were backpacked on camera while being mATX. You could try with that, but they are to small for 240 water cooling without heavy mods. And there are mini ITX variants of those two cases too.

Well you know how they say... YOLO!

If I don't try it I will never learn... And some extra experience isn't bad if I fail as a CS student ???

Thank you all for the advices.
