Problem with the display port 144hz with adapter to DVI

I just installed my RTX 2070 in my pc and I got myself an active DisplayPort to DVI adapter because my monitor, a BENQ XL2411, only takes DVI and HDMI. Since I want 144hz to work on this monitor, I could not use the HDMI port.

Now the problem is that the control panel detects my Display port as HDMI and does not alow me to set the refresh rate higher (exept if I got to a lower resolution like 800x600)

Here is my adapter: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B004SUO1GM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My previous graphics card was a GTX 780 and I was connectiong the DVI with the same cable and I could use the 144hz capability.

Any  help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I apologize, the adapter I bought was indeed the wrong one.
