2080 or 2070?

Prymies

I was wondering which card is better for price per performance, the TI is off the table for being so expensive, and looking to replace my 1060 6gb so I can run 4K more smoothly.

Well, a 2070 is basically as fast as a 1080, Raytracing performance is weak on the 2070 at this point and you could get a used 1080Ti for the same money which is significantly faster. A 1080Ti is about as fast as a 2080 and at this point raytracing becomes an option. Imho there's no point in a 2070 at this point. I'd go with a used 1080Ti or a 2080.

In my area a used 1080ti is about 800 and for that I can get the RTX 2080 brand new for that price

That's pretty insane. I've just paid 570€ for a 8 months old 1080Ti Mini, a 2070 costs between 500-600€ and a 2080 costs about 700-800€. Doesn't make any sense going for the 2070 and the 2080 is more expensive, bigger and offers about the same performance. I'm good with my used 1080Ti.

Get a 2080

"People always fear change. People feared electricity when it was invented, didn't they? People feared coal, they feared gas-powered engines... There will always be ignorance, and ignorance leads to fear. But with time, people will come to accept their silicon masters."
