Ssd upgrade! What do you have to consider

Hi happy new year comrades !!

 

I am looking to buy a ssd for my gaming computer. However, I am a noob for this subject. What are the things to consider when buying a ssd ? Do you guys know good ssd’s for gaming ?

Well, price is one. That's kind of important if you're looking for recommendations.
Where you live is another, as prices vary wildly by region.

 

Personally, if you don't need it now, I'd just wait. Prices are set to fall considerably during the next quarter.

What it costs per gigabyte. Considering that NVMe and SATA have almost no appreciable performance difference for loading applications, NVMe basically gets tossed out the window if you're budget conscious. Aside from that, other factors to consider may be if you think it's worth getting a DRAMless SSD which is cheaper, but it may experience more latency than an SSD with DRAM.

 

However, I think as long as you're getting an SSD from a reputable company, it'll be miles better than an HDD for application loading.

Hi there! There is no hurry for the moment.

 

I am from Canada and the prices should fall? Is there a period in the year that pc components are cheap ? Or it depends on the components ?

Thanks I found samsung 860 evo 250 gb. Seemed to be good

They're cheapest around Black Friday, but yes, they should fall in the next quarter or two. Predictions are currently putting them at $0.08/GB.

where can you see the predictions ?

what is a quarter for you ?

I just joined the pcmasterrace club lol and I ame s student so price is a thing that I consider a lot when buying components

You'd have to Google it if you want to see them, I can't recall where they were.

A quarter is a 3 month period, generally starting from January.

We don't use Nazi terminology here when describing ourselves ;)
