Does it lower the temperature if i change my AIO Coolant to soft water? I've been getting terrible results with my TD02-RGB AIO Cooler showing temps above 70C and i just bought it yesterday. I was getting around 70-74C when i was using my CryoRig M9 Heatsink.

What are you cooling with it and how hot is your ambient

CPU:R9 3900x@4.5Ghz RAM:Vengeance Pro LPX @ 3200mhz MOBO:MSI Tomohawk B350 GPU:PNY GTX 1080 XLR8

DRIVES:500GB Samsung 970 Pro + Patriot Blast 480GB x2 + 12tb RAID10 NAS

MONITORS:Pixio PX329 32inch 1440p 165hz, LG 34UM68-p 1080p 75hz

You can't really refill an AiO (they're not designed for that) and what are you expecting? AiOs are not better concerning cooling performance compared to high end air coolers.

Are these parts up to date?

Spoiler
  • CPU
    I5 4670k
  • Motherboard
    MSI Z87-G45
  • RAM
    8GB Kingston 4x2
  • GPU
    Asus GTX 970 4GB & Zotac GTX 750TI 2GB
  • Case
    Tecware Edge
  • Storage
Goldfir 240GB SSD and Seagate 1TB HDD
  • Display(s)
    Dell 24" 60Hz [Overclocked to 67Hz]
  • Cooling
    Cryorig M9
  • Sound
    Valore Stero Surround Sound 7.1
  • Operating System
Windows 10 Home and Pro 64-bit

Because a i5 4670k shouldn't go up to 70c with a 240mm radiator, unless extremely overclocked or something.

But whatever the problem (mounting error, or something) chaning the AIO liquid wont do anything.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

My cpu is currently overclocked to 4.40Ghz at 1.300 volts.

1.3v for 4.4ghz? If so you lost the silicon lottery. That voltage is pretty high for that clock. Could be some of your issue.

And the volts are same for M9i? What test are you using to get the results? If you are saying you get under 70C now and 74C with M9i, thats already 4C drop. Not as big as it should, but still.

E: Thinking about original question. The coolant used in tubes isn't pure water. Its mixture of pure water and anti-corrosive liquids. I don't know chemistry that well to say if soft water would have any advantages, but I doubt it, knowing how pure water is made.

i also can set it to 1.1v at 4.4ghz

If it is stable at 1.1v for that clock then 100% do that. The goal is to use the least amount of voltage of you can at a given clock. I am guessing your temps will drop 10-20C from that change alone.

How did you determine the voltage you need? Just eyeballing? Why would you put more voltage on your CPU than neccessary? Once it's stable there's no point in increasing VCore.
