What is this thing

so i was looking through some old stuff in the cupboards and i found this little silver thing. All i have learnt is that it can plug into a ps2 and a ps2 controller but i can’t find it anywhere on the internet.

Do you remember if you had a wireless controller? My guess would be that it might be the receiver of the wireless controller but it also allows a second controller in case it is needed.

none of them are wireless

Obviously its an adapter but I cant remember seeing that.

Any branding, etc. on it?  I see it has a CE emblem on it, surely there some company info, etc.?  My guess is an infrared receiver for a third party DVD remote or wireless controller.

no brand just ce and this number thing that i’ve tried looking up
