Used SSD's And HDD's

If you buy a used or manufactured / seller refurbished SSD or HDD what are the chances you will have an issue with them over time. Will they be likely to fail? Are there any risks? (Not buying from no-name brands)

Buying a new SSD is pretty cheap, you only need to spend $5 more. The thing is that cells for reading/writing data have lifespan so refurbishing them does not increase the lifespan, the cells have still been used.

If you buy a used drive, make sure you look at the write cycles. I've purchased "used" drives that simply have hours on, with no data written to the drive. Those are perfectly fine.

Drives that have high reads/writes are the ones you need to worry about.

I wouldn't buy refurbished drives.

If you're looking to upgrade, or add storage, just wait. SSD prices are set to drop quite considerably into the new year.
