I am inteding to build a very power saving PC in a place where every 1 Watt matter so I wanna know what is the most power saving stuff for.

the build will be for gaming and I don't care about being portable or not.

I chose these stuff for this matter.

cpu: i7-8700T

ram: 1 x ddr4 8 gb

storage: 1 x WDC black nvme SSD over M2 pci e + 1 x 2 TB HDD

gpu: still don't know yet

PSU: platinum 550 w power supply while drawing 50% of full load.

RAM: Currently I have 1 stick 8 GB DDR4 2400 which will maybe draw a good amount of power so if Iunderclock it, will I get lower power usage? or getting a new 2133 DDR4 memory can be better? and how much is the differnce?

storage: currently I have 2 TB seagate barracuda 7200 rpm HDD, so if I changed it to any other laptop HDD, I will be getting lower power consumption or the same and how much it differ, I wanna know if it worths changing.

will my nvme over pci SSD drive draw more power than a single SATA SSD?

motherboard: I currently have ASUS prime H310-MD which is a Micro ATX motherboard, so if I get a new mini ITX motherboard, will I get lower consumption or this depends only on the connected components? and if it will then what is the most power saving mini ITX motherboard in the market for the i7 8700T

note: I don't care about idle power saving since the PC will be heavily used as long as it is turned on.

GPU: I currently have GTX 1060 so if i underclock it to draw only 75 W, will it work as GTX 1050 TI or I will be getting lower performamce?

another question: if I bought GTX 1080 TI which has to draw 250 W, can I underclock it to 75 W only? so I can have better performance than the gtx 1050 TI or this won't work?

and for the CPU, is there any better choice for better power consumption such as underclocking a better CPU? and what can the red team do fo me? another thing is that the i7 8700T support 2666 memory, will it work with my 2400 memory stick?

thats all thanks.

I cant change the GPU in laptop and this

is a bad thing.

I have 2 power sources:

1- I don't care about how much it draw

2- I do care about and very much and I don't want more than 1 device so if I can use my PC with 2 power modes I may get what I want

I agree, a laptop will most likely be more effective for this, either that or something like an intel NUC

I cant change the cpu or the gpu inside the laptop and I want to use my PC for 2 power sources, the first will give me higher performance and the other will be power saving so performance also matters thats why I don't want a laptop.

well, this place ahhhh..   I have nearly free power at specific time of the day.

the other time I have a very expensive power, oh god seems not logical at all :D

well I won't give more details for the situation because it doesn't matter.

I don't want a laptop because I can't sell a 3000 $  laptop and I need to change the gpu.

using thunderbolt 3 or any other way to hook an external gpu will be worse than getting a low power PC

if I got a well controlled components I can overclock or downclock them acording to the time of the day.
