dGPU not working on laptop.

How to fix dGPU not working on y50-70? When i install old and new drivers for my GTX 860M equipped lenovo y50-70 it either crashes the installer, and if i install the drivers in safe mode everything is ok. But when i restart and use the dGPU it crashes again.

This is on the latest windows 10, and everything updated. It isnt windows since this has been a problem for over 1.5years now and im just trying my luck if i can find a fix.

I mean I'm not exactly a laptop specialist or anything. Have you hit up customer service yet?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

I was just looking around the internet and its not a good situation to have and people typically end up with a dead GPU.

I heard try backing everything up and doing a factory reset to clear the issue some times works.

another person said it could be a ram issue and if you can change it try different ram (don't know how that helps).

another issue is the GPU sometimes delaminates and it fails.

For number one, i have tried reseting it so much, its like i have a meta windows.old folder.

For number 2, i have tried (1x4GB + 1x2GB ) 6GBs, (1x4GB ) 4GBs and 8GBs (2x4GB)

What do you mean by delaminates? Also someone said to reball my gpu. Thoughts on that?

Same thing, if a gpu needs reballing it's basically dead. Reballing is at best a temporary band aid and will only result in more problems in a matter of weeks after it took place.

Spoiler

if you need more info on why that is...

You'd need to replace the chip entirely, which would cost quite a bit (assuming you could even find one for sale).

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

it does sound like its dead...the only thing i can suggest is trying a older driver maybe a year or 2 one at least.

I would have contacted Lenovo first

Id try an old driver to see if that works. You never know. But I have a feeling that it could be an GPU issue. Calling  Lenovo wont do much considering the age of the machine and the fact its way out of warranty. I know because I own the same machine. If all else fails you could try a fresh install of Windows just to be sure something isnt fudged up there. Other than that It might be a good idea to start looking for a new machine.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Well its not worth it buying parts and replacing them when im gonna buy a full fledged vega 7nm rx 3080 system with a ryzen 5 3600X. The laptop is just something i use temporary until i get that awesome build.

Better buy a new machine man.

Will do that in march when the new ryzen 3rd gen will be out, and when the 7nm amd gpus will be out. If i use the leaks rn, i would get the RX 3080 and the r5 3600X

I tried that, they said that the model of laptop is out of date, and since its not on sale rn they cant help me with it.

Tried installing the old drivers, no luck. And i tried contacting lenovo, but as you said they dont support products that are not on sale at the moment. I have installed Windows too many times, and I know its not windows. I even tried win 7 and no luck. This laptop is just for temporary use til march since amd will supposedly release their rx 3080 and r5 3600X that im keen on buying. Ive been saving, and working HARD for this new pc and i cant be bothered buying now since i know im gonna get much better performance per dollar if i just wait a little longer.

hmmm a thought....dont install a nvidea driver..just let windows install a default one...you wont be able to really game on it and such but it just might work for basic needs. ihad a bad video card one time and as long as i let windows install a generic one it worked

He still has the Intel GPU, there's no reason to do this. Even if it works it won't perform any better.
