Hi guys

I am wondering if you can give me advice on my pc I have:

AMD FX-8320 (STOCK HSF)

ASUS M5A97

8GB CRUCIAL BALLISTIX

ASUS ROG MATRIX R9 280X

800W EZCOOL PSU

WINDOWS 8.1

I play bf4 on ultra as my components can handle it but my pc just shuts off. I think I need a bigger psu as the box alone says 750w minimum

Please help

My Setup :P

Not more power, a better quality PSU might help though.

No, with that much power, you can OC your CPU and add another GPU

Really the gpu box says a minimum of 750w

Is the card or CPU overclocked? If so, to what extent?

Have you touched the settings of anything - in particular, the CPU voltages or GPU voltages?

Nothing touched

Did some searching around and found this:

ezcool_800w_Ambiance.jpg

I don't think you have enough amps on that one rail to power the 280x at maximum load. (Could someone double check this please? I dont exactly know how load balancing works on multi rail power supplies). It draws 300W on both 8 pin cables which means 25A current draw just for the 280x. https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/MATRIXR9280X3GD5/#specifications

Really the gpu box says a minimum of 750w

They only say that because worst scenario is that you have a shitty PSU that is not efficient. So they put a higher number. You can get after with a 700 watt that is 80 plus

Its possible something is overheating, but I'd get rid of that power supply regardless. Get something from seasonic, coolermaster, corsair, antec, etc. If you do decide to go that route, just post in the forum with your budget and everyone will help you find the best psu for your build.

Don't want to as windows nearly died last time it crashed

so... with "crash" you mean black screen and fan going 100% or bsod or just shutoff?

If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough it will be believed.
