Hi everyone. Been contemplating moving back to AMD (previously upgraded to z170 from AM3). Aside from *waiting*, what are thoughts on this up/side grade? As of now, I hit 4.7 on approximately 1.38, 3000mhz RAM on an Asus z170-ar. Also using 1440p 144hz monitor with a 1080ti. Honestly, I dont mind losing a handful of frames if the system is "snappier" (which i feel is true using a friend's 1600 system) and doesnt go insane when streaming/multitasking while gaming. Other uses that makes this change would be for video editing, heavy video conversion (handbrake), and academic work [all this work would really pertain to education]. I love my 6700k for just gaming, but seems to want to cry if I try to use handbrake to compress student videos, edit videos for both professors and for student-aimed tutorials, and write anything in word/chrome/using pdfs/etc.

Though I will say that the 1809 update has helped a little bit but has been frustrating having to confine myself to a limited amount of tasks (obviously not asking the system to do everything at the same time).

you're only losing 4% single core speed so there's that. i'm not familiar with ryzen so i can't help you much further. i just looked at the benchmarks.

i figured. its unfortunate that i dont want to run it a 4.8. it usually help with some things, but am rather uncomfortable with voltage above 1.4 and temps are awful

2700x is better and for gaming, is on par with the 8600k with both on stock speeds. 2700x is a great choice and is really fast for multithreaded work (streaming, editing, etc)
