Help Decoding MemTest86 Results

So I've recently run into some reoccurring BSODS on my not overclocked z87 build (4770k, 2x8GB RAM). Mostly IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT codes. Usually these are due to RAM issues, so I ran MemTest86 and got many, many errors. So, to determine the cause of the error, I took one stick out, ran MemTest86 and didn't get any errors. So I moved it to the other slot, and still didn't get any errors. I did the same with the other stick, and still no errors. So I stuck both sticks in the slots they were originally in and got many errors. I then moved the sticks to the other set of slots, the board immediately froze in BIOS. However, that last error may be unrelated, the owners manual of the board (Asus sabertooth z87) specifically recommends against doing that.

Am I correct in the assessment that the problem is the memory controller, and will be fixed with a processor replacement?

Does sound like a memory controller issue, so yes, a processor replacement might be in order. Just in case, update your BIOS to the latest or you might not be able to use the later 4th gen chips.

I'd personally try a Celeron before splurging on an i7.

Inspect the CPU socket. Make sure there aren't any damaged pins in the socket.

Are both sticks the same model? Same Frequency, CAS latency and timings?

The sticks are from this kit: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Memory/High-Performance-Memory/Vengeance®-—-16GB-Dual-Channel-DDR3-Memory-Kit/p/CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10

At last check (2 weeks ago) the socket was fine. Insertion went perfectly, and the system was stable for about a week before the issue started.

it's ddr3 1600. I have it set to "auto" because that's the only setting that gives me enough stability to post now.

Is it actually running 1600? Wondering if dropping a step to 1333 would be a workaround for now.

Another thought is, could the mobo be using inappropriate voltages? Check the SA, IO, and mem voltages.
