Airflow question

Cianthy

Hello everyone,

I've finnaly built a new pc and tomorow I should get 5x RGB fans comming up so I'm wondering how to set them up inside the case for best airflow.

This is the current situation: Only AIO is setup , front 2 coolers are huge and they're intaking air inside, 3 coolers on the GPU (Windforce 1080)

Should I put fans 4,5 to push air to the PSU area ? Also should fans 1 and 2 intake or push air out? Fan 3 should take the air out right?

I really appriciate all the help ❤️

fan 9/2 i reccomend going out. AIO drawing from case going out to maintain air flow.

front intakes fine.

3 is fine.

4/5 dont really see th point. PSU will take care of its self.

GPU fans will be pushing air towards it not away so the fans at top of case will help with that.

Heat rises. If you have your aio fans blowing in and fans 4 and 5 pushing down, it's not as good as the reverse. The graphics card fans will also resist this flow, causing turbulence. Additionally, don't include the PSU fan, it has its own air pocket. Orient fans 4 and 5 upward, and aio fans as exhaust.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

So:

4,5 upwards to the top fans (Will that ruin the GPU ? Wouldn't it then counter GPU fans , they should be blowing into one another, thats fine?)

1,2 upwards to the outside

3 to the outside

front fans to the inside?

This isnt entirely true. Yes heat rises, but mechanical direction of that heat will overcome the natural rise of that heat every time. Hence why "Chimney" designs (airflow from bottom to top) aren't significantly better than airflow from front to back.

Fans 4 and 5 are essentially useless. In fact having fans blowing down onto the PSU would pull air away from the GPU, meaning you'd have warmer temperatures there. However fan 5 Blowing upwards into the GPU could actually be really good for the GPU. I wouldn't use Fan 4 because it would either be too close to the PSU back (with the fan facing down which is ideal) or fighting the PSU fan (with the PSU fan facing up).

My recommendations: If the top of the case has a filter, have the AIO fan be an intake. Fans 2,3 and 9 can be exhaust and fan 5 blowing air into the GPU. Disregard fan mount 4. If you dont like the look of fan 5 being alone right there, then I just wouldn't use it.
