RX 580 4GB or 8GB?

I'm thinking of upgrading my 1050 Ti to an RX 580, but I'm torn between getting a 4GB or 8GB card. Right now, there's a deal for a Sapphire RX 580 4GB on Amazon right now that makes it more than CAD$50 cheaper than the cheapest RX 580 8GB card. I'm planning to use this card for 1080p gaming for the next few years, and I'm unsure about whether 4GB will be enough for the next few years, if it's worth the extra CAD$50+ for the 8GB card, or if I should wait for the next year or so for a new release from either AMD or NVIDIA, because right now, the 1050 Ti suits my current needs, I'm just worried about how much longer it will be able to keep up.

Looking back how fast VRAM increased, I will prefer 8GB one. The problem with entry-mid class GPU is VRAM won't be enough in 1-2 years title.

^^^ I'd go for the 8GB or else just wait and upgrade when AMD's new GPUs drop. If you can get more VRAM, you probably should, especially if you wanna max textures and such on really gorgeous games, ROTTR looks damn good at Very High (abooout the same at High but I don't think the textures are as sharp), but eats 7.5GB VRAM or more on an 8GB GTX 1080, and 8.5GB or more when it has room to breathe on my Vega FE (16GB VRAM). That's just at 1080p, at 4K it pulls about another GB.

If it's a 50 CAD difference, go for the 8GB version. This is coming from a 4GB RX 580 owner and I can tell you games are using more and more VRAM

What's the exact price of the RX 580 4GB and RX 580 8GB you're looking at? And how much does a used GTX 970 cost you?

Just wait, the 1050ti is fine to live with right?

 

Next year Q2 AMD's Navi seems to be coming, rather wait till then to see what's what.
